SMART performance standard
The Security Management and Assessment of Risk Toolkit (SMART) is the ISA-MKD framework for structuring security threat assessment, risk assessment, planning, decision-making, execution, and review across training programmes.
Certification is granted only when a participant demonstrates the defined course outcomes and, where applicable, practical and scenario-based competence. Assessment uses Competent / Not Competent grading against stated thresholds.

External alignment
The methodology is aligned with ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management, ISO 31010:2019 Risk Assessment Techniques, ISO 22361:2022 Crisis Management, and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management.
